first, let's go back in time

The first FootGolf tournament on a 9-hole golf course was organized in 2008 in the Netherlands by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten.
It was played between German and Belgian professional football players. The International FootGolf Association (IFGA) was founded in Geneva, Switzerland after the tournament in the Netherlands in 2009, but the association has only the Netherlands as a member.
The success of the first edition of the World Cup in 2012 saw the seven nations present meet the next day to form the International FootGolf Federation (FIFG).
The Association Française de FootGolf (AFFG) was founded on June 6, 2013. The 2015 season will have seen world-renowned players such as Ludovic Giuly, Jean-Pierre Papin, Robert Pires and Sylvain Wiltord join the AFFG to become ambassadors of FootGolf in France.
